E-40 Error Displayed On The 1000E

If the 1000E displays E-40 when trying to change a setting, such as the date, time or daylight saving time settings, the means a password has been set on the time recorder. In order to access the Programming, the password must be entered.

To enter the password:

1. Press SELECT.
2. Press CHANGE to enter the first two numbers of the password.
   
   Press SET to save the change.
3. Press CHANGE to enter the second two numbers of the password.
   
   Press SET to save the change.

After the password is entered, configurations can be changed, as needed. The password is required to access the settings. If the password is unknown, the time recorder must be reset. There is no way to bypass the password without resetting the 1000E.
