If the 900E shows E-38 when inserting a card, the printer was not properly positioned before inserting the card. The unit should be located in a clean environment and ONLY USED FOR TIMECARDS. E-38 will result if dust or pollutants settle on the slide rails of the printer, jamming the mechanism or when when the ribbon is not seated correctly. To correct the problem:
