Masterlink is a Windows-based application that works the LTR8-512 and LTR8-512M Master Controllers. The software is scalable to meet the needs from having one Master Controller system to clusters of multiple Master Controller systems across an enterprise or school system. Here is a list of questions commonly asked about Masterlink Version 2.

Can Masterlink software be ran as a networked program, accessible from any computer? Masterlink software is a single computer software system. It is not designed as a networkable program, which can be accessed on multiple computers. When Masterlink is installed, the license files and database are created on the local hard drive. Currently, it cannot be installed on a network drive.

Is there a database backup utility for Masterlink software to backup the database in the event of a computer failure? Masterlink, currently, does not have a backup utility. Bell Schedules and secondary clocks currently selected are stored in the Master Controllers. Masterlink Version 2 allows for additional information to be configured that is not stored on the Master Controller. In order to backup the list of available schedules, multiple system and multiple controllers, the database file will need to be copied periodically from the Masterlink application folder.

Can we store our Masterlink database on a server and run Masterlink from a workstation terminal? Masterlink, currently, does not have the ability to manage it's database from a network drive. Masterlink can only manage the database from the database path, specified under Help | About. This location can vary, depending on the local hard drive installation and Windows Operating System.

Can the Masterlink software also work with other Master Controllers besides the LTR8-512 series Master Controller? Masterlink software communications is only available with the Lathem LTR8-512 Series Master Controllers. The LTR8-512, which includes the LTR8-512M, has software communications capabilities. Other Lathem Masters and signalling devices currently do not have software communications capabilities. Masterlink software will also communicate with the Dukane 24a715 and the Dukane 24a715M Master Controllers.

Can Masterlink apply bell schedules as well as secondary clock assignments on the same circuit on the LTR8-512 Master? The LTR8-512 Series Master Controller has 8 Relay Circuits. The Clock Types chosen must coincide with the connections to the physical Relay Board. Synchronizing Secondary Clocks reduces the number of available relays for programmed events:
- If the Master is controlling 1 Secondary Clock Type, 6 relays are available for programmed events.
- If the Master is controlling 2 Secondary Clock Types, 4 relays are available for programmed events.
- If the Master is not controlling any Secondary Clocks, bells can be connected to all 8 relays.
When a Secondary Clock Type is chosen, any programmed events that are configured for those clock circuits will be ignored by the Master.

Can the Masterlink Updater Service also be used to keep the Master Controller time updated if the Master is connected with an RS232/RS485 Connection? Currently, the Masterlink Updater service will update the LTR8-512 Master's time at a scheduled time when the Master is connected with an Ethernet Adapter. The Masterlink Time Synch synchronizes the computer time with Master Controllers connected with a TCP/IP Connection Type in Masterlink.

Can the number Schedule Changes and Holidays be increased in Masterlink with an additional license? Schedule Changes and Holidays are dependent upon the LTR8-512 Master Controller. The LTR8-512 Series Master Controller has a limit of 16 Schedule Changes and 16 Holidays. These settings must be reconfigured to compensate for the need of the organization. For example, if additional Holidays are needed, they can be programmed into the software and sent to the Master Controller when recognized dates has passed. (Since January 1 has passed, a new holiday can be programmed into Masterlink and sent to the Master Controller.)

The LTR8-512M only has a configuration to contact the Atomic Clock in Boulder, Colorado but that is only once per day. Is Masterlink programmable to contact the Atomic Clock more than once per day? Contacting the Atomic Clock in Boulder, Colorado is a feature of the LTR8-512M Master Controller. Masterlink does not place the call to the Atomic Clock. That is exclusively done by the LTR8-512M. The timeclock physically calls the Atomic Clock through the modem on the Master Controller. Masterlink is used to send the day(s) and time of when to call.
