The print pattern for the 5000E Plus can print the year in 2 or 4 digits, minutes as standard (1/60), hundredths (1/100), fifths (1/20), or tenths (1/10) and print leading zeroes. By default, the unit prints the 2-digit year, standard minutes and the leading zeroes disabled. To set the print pattern:
- Insert the key into the Top Cover and turn it 1/4 turn to unlock the cover.
- By holding the left and right sides, lift the Top Cover up.
- Press Select. If a password is set on the 5000E Plus, the time recorder will display 99 99.
- Enter the password. The password is required to access the time recorder settings. If the password is unknown, the time recorder must be reset. To enter the password:
- Press CHANGE to enter the first two numbers of the password.
- Press SET.
- Press CHANGE to enter the second two numbers of the password.
- Press SET
- Press Select to position the Indicator Mark under PRINT PATTERN.
- Press CHANGE to select the Year Digit.

When completed, the time recorder will return to the normal display.
