E-40 Error Displayed On The 5000E Plus

If the 5000E Plus displays E-40 when trying to change a setting, such as the date, time or daylight saving time settings, the means a password has been set on the time recorder. In order to access the Programming, the password must be entered. If the password is unknown, the time recorder must be reset. To enter the password:

1. Press SELECT. the display hsould show should show 99 99 on the display.
2. Press CHANGE to enter the first two numbers of the password.
3. Press SET to save the changes.
4. Press CHANGE to enter the second two numbers of the password.
5. Press SET to save the changes.

After the password is entered, configurations can be changed, as needed. If the unit was reset, all settings need to be configured. There is no way to bypass the password without resetting the 5000E Plus.
