The client cannot connect to the server message can mean one of two things.
- If there is only one computer installed with the PayClock software then the PayClock SQL Database service is not running on the computer and will need to be started with the below steps.
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard
- Select Task Manager from the list of options
- Click on the Services tab at the top of the window. If you do not see Services click More Details at the bottom of the window
- Locate the PayClock SQL Database service in the list
- Right-click the service name and choose Start. If you receive a message that you do not have rights to do this click on the Services button at the bottom of the screen, locate the PayClock SQL Database service name in the list, right-click and choose Restart.
- You should then be able to open the PayClock software and log in
- If there are multiple computers installed with the PayClock software and the unit with the connection issue is a Client you will need to follow the below steps.
- From the computer that is acting as the PayClock database (Server)
- Open the PayClock software and log in
- Click the PayClock icon from the top left of the screen and select Support Assistant
- Click the Connection Info button and print out the document that opens.
- From the computer that is acting as the PayClock database (Server)
2. From the computer that is acting as a PayClock Client
1. Right-click on the PayClock V6 desktop icon
2. Select Open File Location from the shortcut list
3. Open the PayClock configuration settings file (PayClock.ini)
4. Look at the line that has ConnectionString=ENG= and check that the name matches the printout that you got from the PayClock server
5. On the same ConnectionString line you will see TCP; that you will need to enter the following information like below but using the address from the printout.
ConnectionString=ENG=OwnerPC_PayClock;LINKS=SHMEM,TCP(HOST=192.168.1.15);PROWS=200
6. Save the changes
7. Open PayClock and log in
